Text: ```2 Kings 20:14-18 AMP Then Isaiah the prophet came to King Hezekiah and said to him, “What did these men say [that would cause you to do this for them]? From where have they come to you?” Hezekiah said, “They have come from a far country, from Babylon.” Isaiah said, “What have they seen in your house?” Hezekiah answered, “They have seen everything that is in my house (palace). There is nothing in my treasuries that I have not shown them.” Then Isaiah said to Hezekiah, “Hear the word of the Lord. ‘Behold, the time is coming when everything that is in your house, and that your fathers have stored up until this day, will be carried to Babylon; nothing will be left,’ says the Lord. ‘And some of your sons (descendants) who will be born to you will be taken away [as captives]; and they will become eunuchs in the palace of the king of Babylon.’ ”```
COMMENTARY
It is common with Kings to show their possessions. King Ahaserus did it and that was why his wife Queen Vasti was dethroned and Queen Esther crowned. Also King Solomon made a lot of show of his possessions which made his fame spread abroad attracting the Queen of Sheba. Hezekiah is not the first King to display wealth and possessions. Is God in support of show or display of wealth? Through the mouth of the Prophets the will of God is proclaimed. Isaiah came to king Hezekiah and said: _hear the word of the Lord. Behold the time is coming when everything that is in your house, and that your fathers have stored up until this day, will be carried to Babylon; nothing would be left says the Lord._
Scriptural Stewardship of money and wealth is emphasized in _1 Corinthians 4:7 For who regards you as superior or what sets you apart as special? What do you have that you did not receive [from another]? And if in fact you received it [from God or someone else], why do you boast as if you had not received it [but had gained it by yourself]?_ When the Bible talks about being a steward of your possessions, it’s not talking about how you manage what’s yours. Instead, it emphasizes that everything ultimately belongs to God: _"The earth is the Lord's, and everything in it" (Psalm 24:1)._
Anything that you would do with God's blessings: riches, position and honor that God has given you that doesn't bring glory to His name should be discarded. Ask yourself "would this bring glory to God?, Will it win a Soul to the kingdom of God?" If the answer is no, then terminate the idea and seek the best place to put your energy, time and resources to bringing better results for the kingdom of God.
Food for thought: When we see ourselves as caretakers and Trustees we will be good steward of our possessions but when we see ourselves as landlords we could make mess of our lives with riches._
Prayer: ```May I forever consider God as the giver of all things and use my possession in accordance with His will in Jesus name``` .
