Text:
```Matthew 6:9-13 NKJV In this manner, therefore, pray: Our Father in heaven, Hallowed be Your name. Your kingdom come. Your will be done On earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, As we forgive our debtors. And do not lead us into temptation, But deliver us from the evil one. For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.
COMMENTARY
Jesus says that when you pray, don't show off by praying publicly or babbling all sorts of words. He assures you that your Father God already knows your needs before even asking for them. In the book of Matthew, Jesus instructs that when you pray you should pray like this:
"Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And lead us not into temptation but deliver us from the evil one." This Bible passage is often called The Lord's Prayer. It's the prayer that Jesus left for you and me to teach us how to pray. Is it the only prayer to pray? Absolutely not. But it's a good prayer to pray, and a pointer to how we should pray.
Praying is like breathing. It is something you should constantly do, continually, and without ceasing. An essential step in being effective in your prayers is to remember to Whom you are speaking. If you know Christ Jesus as your Lord and Savior, then God is your Father, which means you have been invited through Christ to come before the throne of grace. Thus, because God desires for you to commune and talk with Him, you can therefore pray with confidence, knowing that He hears you. God is not concerned about the length of your prayer or whether you sound eloquent or not. God desires you. He is your Father and wants to hear from you. Your approach to Him must be one of honor and reverence, which allows you to both humbly and boldly pour out what's on your heart and mind.
Food for thought:
Lord's prayer is like a formula. When reverencing and honoring God is beginning of our prayers, it grant us access._
Prayer:
```Pray as you are led```
